World population day

World Population Day is celebrated annually on July 11th. It was established by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 1989, inspired by the public interest and awareness generated by the “Day of Five Billion” on July 11, 1987, when the world’s population reached five billion.

The purpose of World Population Day is to raise awareness about global population issues, including their implications for development, environment, and quality of life. It aims to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues in the context of overall development plans and programs. The day is marked by activities and events that highlight topics such as family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health, and human rights.
